Printing Tricks
Posted on June 21st, 2009 No commentsPrinting your loan mod case files from Captaloans is a pretty straight forward task. However, since you will be printing from a web browser you might get a few unwanted items appearing on your printed page. Your web browsers may add page numbers, web addresses or page titles to the header and footer of your printed page. Fortunately, most browsers allow you to configure these setting so you can turn them off if you like. We think the pages look nicer with them turned off. Here are steps to do so:For the purpose of this article we are going to focus on Internet Explorer and Fire Fox. If you have a fondness for browsers the basic procedures should be the same. Consult your browser’s help page for more information.
Internet Explorer 8
Go to “File”, “Page Setup”. To remove the printed information from the header set the drop down to “Empty”. Do the same to the footer as per your preferences. Note you may want to keep the page numbers. You can also make a note of what defaults are in case you want to reset the values.

Internet Explorer 7
Click the icon of a printer on the main task bar and go to “Page Setup”. From there go to the instructions for IE6 (the instructions are in the next section below).
Internet Explorer 6
Go to “File”, “Page Setup…”, then erase the text in the “Headers and Footers text boxes.
We recommend you put &b&p as the value for the header. This will put the page number in the top right.
Firefox
From the menu your browser (upper left corner), choose “File”, then “Page setup”. Go to the second tab called “Margins & Header/Footer”, in the drop down lists choose “Blank” for all the items you don’t want printed.
Hopefully the information provided here will help you print out professional looking documents from Captaloans. If you want to take your printing to the next level consider printing to pdf. There are quite a few pdf printer options out there. Some of them include pdfFactory, primopdf, and cutePDF. Printing to pdf makes your documents secure and portable.
Happy Printing!

How to get a back office system for your Loan Mod business.
Posted on June 12th, 2009 No commentsA Back Office can be defined as the IT and infrastructure support services for a company, that is separate from the public face of the business. In short, it’s where the magic happens. Large companies like Wal-Mart, Dell and Sony spend millions of dollars putting together massive infrastructures that include servers, software and personnel. Usually back office systems work in conjunction with a company’s front office to process requests from users to provide either services or products to its customers. Keep in mind the more easily information passes back and forth from these two worlds, the more efficient the business will run. What does a typical small business use for a back office? Typically small business will often have a combination of different software applications loosely tied together through a network or server of some sort. Those of you who have put these pieces together know these systems are not always easy to manage and getting two different systems to work with each other can be very difficult. It often involves some sort of customization work. This was the typical set up with many mortgage companies in the past. They often had customized versions of Point, Act, or Salesforce software that were maintained by in house staff.
Today’s loan modification companies require a different set of tools. A typical loan modification company may have their processor in Los Angeles, their attorney in Beverly Hills, and customers through out southern California. All parties need to be able to communicate and work together to improve efficiency, so a web based system is very logical here. With advances in internet speeds and sophisticated software a company can now have a fully functional back end office system running available to them on a month by month basis. The software can often be customized and branded to appear as though it was made specifically for their business. The benefits of this are speed of implementation, minimal start-up costs, and no maintenance.

The export will produce a CSV file which you can save to your local computer. CSV is a file format that is native to Excel and the file can be opened with most spreadsheet software applications. Implementing an Intake/Call Center with Captaloans
Posted on June 2nd, 2009 1 commentIf you operate a call center to generate your loan modification leads Captaloans has a feature called Intake Users that may be of interest.Intake Users are similar to regular Captaloans users but their permissions have been restricted so they only have permissions to input new customer leads. They have access to the full customer leads page, including income and expenses, but nothing else.
For managers who have intake staff whose primary function is to handle inbound or outbound calls this is a perfect solution. The Intake User can input all the customer information and then submit the lead which will be routed to their supervisor or an agent of your choice. After a lead is submitted the Intake User is brought back to a new lead page where they can accept the next call.
Here is a screen shot of what the Intake User will see when they first log in.

The great part of this feature is that an Intake User costs only $2 a month. Captaloans offers them in blocks of five to member of the Premium Plan. This means for $20 a month I can staff a call center of ten people! All submitted leads are routed to my intake supervisor where they can qualify, follow up, or reassign them to an agent.
To purchase a block of Intake Users:
1) Login to Captaloans
2) Select TOOLS
3) Select ALL BRANCHES
4) Select PURCHASE under the Intake User Section
